Description

Australians love Asian food, but although Asian cuisines make up more than 50% of what we go out to eat, we often feel intimidated attempting it at home. Yet Asian food is perfectly suited to a busy lifestyle. Flavours are created simply and very quickly, and dishes are designed specifically to avoid spending hours in the kitchen. The dishes in ASIAN AFTER WORK are all fresh, fast and easy (most can be prepared in less than 20 minutes), and use a short list of readily available supermarket ingredients. Before winning MasterChef, Adam Liaw worked as a lawyer for 11 years and, like most people, worked full and busy days. He knows first-hand that with a little thought and planning anyone can make great, fresh and healthy Asian meals at home without spending hours in the kitchen or resorting to takeaway meals, junk or pre-packaged or preservative-laden ingredients. In addition to the simple ingredients and method of the recipes, ASIAN AFTER WORK explains the preparation and craft of creating Asian meals quickly and efficiently in a home kitchen. You don't have to be a chef to make a delicious meal. A stir-fry can be turned into an authentic Asian family meal in less than 10 minutes. But more than just the popular stir-fries, there are countless Asian dishes that can be assembled in just a few minutes or simply piled into a pot to cook without having to slave away over a stove. The broader availability of Asian ingredients in local supermarkets has made simple Asian cookery accessible to all Australians. Where most other family-oriented cookbooks still write for the range of ingredients available in supermarkets 10 years ago, ASIAN AFTER WORK is a cookbook for the way we cook, eat, shop and live in Australia today.
